Over the summer, Ignite Greater Newark held two happy hour fundraisers at Catas Restaurant in the Ironbound. The purpose of these happy hours was to increase awareness about the mission of Ignite and to raise funds in order to send more students from the Greater Newark area on excursions throughout the region. Each fundraiser had a number of attendees who were already familiar with Ignite come to Catas to support the cause. The happy hours also helped spread the word to people who were not already involved with the program, many of whom chose to support our cause with a generous donation. Between ticket sales and 50/50 raffle donations, we raised enough money for dozens of students to go on upcoming trips throughout the tri-state area. Thanks to all of you who came out and we look forward to seeing you in the future!

I support fund raising causes. They are important especially to the people who are the intended beneficiaries. As a student, my parents have imbibed on me the sense of being one with others who need assistance asap. That's why I keep myself employed even if I attend to my classes during mornings. I know that being a working student helps build my character at the same time allow me to be a bit fluid in term of my finances. That's why I help others when given the chance.
